The Connecticut Working Families Party (WFP) is a political party built by and for working people. We are a multiracial, grassroots movement of union members, parents, renters, people of faith, and everyday people across Connecticut and the country who believe in one simple idea: government should work for the people, not the wealthy and well-connected.
For more than two decades, WFP has led the fight to elect champions up and down the ballot, like Danbury's State Senator Julie Kushner or Hartford Board of Education Chair Shonta Browdy. And with our elected champions, we've won landmark victories like paid sick days (one of our earliest major policy victories was in 2011, when Connecticut made waves as the first state in the nation to pass paid sick days), paid family leave, a higher minimum wage, and protecting residents from powerful bad actors, from ICE to corporate greed. You may even have heard of WFP from the fights we've led across the country, from electing Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York, to Analilia Mejia in New Jersey, to Chris Rabb in Pennsylvania.
WFP builds power in the state legislature, in our communities, and at the ballot box on Election Day. In Connecticut, we have fusion voting — which means WFP is an independent party with our own candidates and our own ballot line. It also means that voters have the chance to vote for our top candidates on one of multiple ballot lines. A vote on the Working Families ballot line (Row C in the November election) is a vote to tax the ultra-rich to invest in universal childcare, affordable housing, healthcare, and a state where working people win.
